About Dr. Freund

HI, I’m Rachel Freund, a licensed psychologist who started Confluence Behavioral Health after working for over a decade in large healthcare organizations. I earned my PhD in 2010 from the APA-accredited clinical psychology program at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. I have worked with adults in a range of clinical settings, from inpatient facilities to general outpatient behavioral health to primary care. See CV.

AFTER spending my graduate school and post-doctoral years soaking up the cultural and natural elements of the high desert in the American Southwest and Mountain West, I returned home to the Pacific Northwest in 2016. I am delighted to serve adults in the local Seattle community and residents of Washington state as a behavioral health provider, via virtual therapy services. I treat a variety of problems and specialize in treating post-traumatic stress, insomnia, anxiety, panic, medically-stable substance use, and adjustment problems/life changes.

MY interest in human behavior is interwoven with my fascination in and inspiration from the natural world. I am naturally curious and drawn to the stories and lives of others—complex, rich, interesting, relatable, connected. I believe we each have experiences that deserve to be voiced, acknowledged, and appreciated; I bring my personal values of compassion, curiosity, and present-centeredness into therapeutic interactions. I tend to be gentle and supportive, yet direct and goal-oriented, and I find that a sense of humor and gratitude are worth a lot in working through life’s difficulties. I am passionate about helping others and generally making the world a better place for everyone. I want to help my clients suffer less and fully live their best lives.

OUTSIDE of work, my interests include practicing yoga, reading, being outdoors, dancing, baking, and spending time with friends and family. Throughout my life, I have been heavily influenced by community service, social justice movements, and mindfulness practice.
